How does it Work?
iPass provides all participating ISPs with a roam
server software, which is installed and resides on the Internet Service
Provider's computer system. This software along with intelligent routing
makes Internet Roaming possible. iPass agreements with other ISPs in over
150 countries enables customers from varying ISPs to be authenticated
when dialing into each other's services. All you need to have is an Internet
account with BTL. When traveling to another country with iPass Roaming
service, you dial into a local number and log in with the same user ID
and password. Also include your domain name after the user ID (e.g.john@btl.net).
Although you are dialing in through a different provider, in effect you
are still logging into the Internet via BTL.
What are the available roaming numbers?
The roaming coverage extends to more than 150 countries
and more than 5,000 locations. Local call access to the Internet service
is available in almost every major city in the world. The complete list
is available here. You can download the iPass Dialer, which includes a
complete phone book of the worldwide access numbers, using Windows 95.
