Turn-Down of Analog Mobile Phone System Network
|
Belize Telemedia Limited advises the public that it will be turning down (off) the Analog Mobile Phone System (AMPS) Network on January 31, 2012. The Analog network was the first wireless/mobile network in Belize and currently facilitates the Analog mobile and Fixed Cell services.
The following numbering series will no longer be functional: 603-XXXX, 606-XXXX, 608-XXXX, 609-XXXX, 409-XXXX, 309-XXXX, 209-XXXX, 809-XXXX, 509-XXXX, 709-XXXX, 614-XXXX, 014-XXXX, 220-XXXX, 225-7XXX, 205-7XXX, 320-XXXX, 323-7XXX, 303-7XXX, 420-XXXX, 520-XXXX, 720-XXXX and 820 -XXXX.
Customers were initially advised more than a year ago because this system is now manufactured discontinued, therefore, manufacturer service support is no longer available to BTL. As a result, BTL is unable to guarantee the delivery of reliable and quality services on this network and cannot risk the sudden unavailability of services to customers.
BTL has taken steps to provide customers with access to more advanced technologies by launching a 3G CDMA/EVDO Network and significantly expanding the GSM Network - DigiCell. Most Fixed Cell customers on the Analog Network have already migrated to BTL's 3G CDMA/EVDO Network and are experiencing better voice and data services. Analog Mobile customers can experience a multitude of more advanced services with DigiCell.
The Company thanks its customers for their understanding and continued support as it works to ensure reliability while providing advanced telecommunication solutions. Customers with questions or concerns can contact us at 0-800-CALL-BTL. |
