BTL Strengthens its Fiber Optic Cable Network to the South
Belize City, Belize, August 31st, 2010 Ė Belize Telemedia Limited is pleased to announce that over the weekend the Company successfully completed two major and important upgrades in the Southern part of our country.

The first was the replacement of Fiber at the BEL switch and the commissioning of these to the Independence exchange.

The second was the commissioning of fiber from Dump PG to the BTL exchange in Punta Gorda.

Both upgrades signify that BTL can now use fiber to increase capacity in both Independence and Punta Gorda. More important is the fact that the Company now has continuous capacity from Belize City to Punta Gorda both via Optical Ground Wire (OPGW) and Under Hung Fiber Cables.

Increased capacity allows for the interconnection to the South into BTL's existing fiber optic network that already extends from Belize City to both the Northern and Western Borders and also into the Capital City, Belmopan.

This upgrade of fiber into these areas significantly increases capacity for voice, data, internet and other multimedia services into the South. Television stations for example, will now be able to transmit live newscast to Independence, Punta Gorda and other areas while business customers will have adequate capacity to transmit live data and other business information in real time to their Southern branch.

These upgrades highlight the Company's commitment to the continued growth and development of telecommunications in Belize and meeting the demands of our valued customers.

The Company applauds the hard work and commitment of its Construction Staff and all other employees who assisted with this milestone achievement.
