|
BELIZE CITY, Belize, C.A., Aug. 18th - BTL today announced that the Company will be awarding 32 high school scholarships, under its high school scholarship program, to deserving and academically qualified students from throughout the country.
Over the past 17 years, the Company has invested close to $1 million dollars in the education of over 400 Belizean youths countrywide.
BTL's High School Scholarship Program is aimed at academically nourishing and supporting students. The scholarships provide students with the opportunity to complete their four-year secondary education at the high school of their choice. Scholarship recipients are selected based on their academic performance, financial need and potential.
These students will be honored on Tuesday, August 19th, 2008 at a special reception to be held at the Radisson Fort George Hotel. Guest speaker at the ceremony will be Hon. Patrick Faber, Minister of Education. Mr. Dean Boyce, Chairman of the BTL Executive Committee, will deliver a message on behalf of the company, after which the scholarship recipients will receive special certificates welcoming them into BTL's scholarship family.
BTL is pleased to recognize the academic achievements of these exceptional students, and to assist financially in their pursuit of higher education.
In June 2008, 17 BTL High School Scholarship recipients from 11 High Schools throughout the country completed their secondary education. Today these students, who took full advantage of the opportunity given to them, are now preparing to further their education at tertiary level educational institutions nationwide.
In addition to the High School Scholarship Program, the Company also sponsors other educational initiatives under its Stay in School Campaign, including BTL's Internet to School Program, Learn N Phone Program, and the recently launched Adopt A School Program, among others.
