On Wednesday, August 29th, 2007, employees of Belize Telemedia Limited will join the rest of the country in contributing to restoration efforts presently underway to assist those in the northern part of Belize who were greatly impacted by Hurricane Dean.

BTL today announced that the Company will be providing assistance Xaibe Village, Corozal District. This is just one of the ways in which the Company will be reaching out to the victims of Hurricane Dean.

BTL, recognizing the dire need of villagers in the hurricane stricken areas, conducted an assessment to see how best the Company could assist. Consequently, more than 60 BTL staff have volunteered to travel to Xaibe Village to help villagers in their restoration efforts.

Furthermore, BTL volunteers will assist physically in the reconstruction of the homes that were damaged .Additionally, staff will conduct house to house visits to distribute 150 food packages to the village residents. These packages contain basic household necessities such as canned foods, rice, flour, beans, sugar, water, powder milk, salt, toiletries, and blankets, and much more.

The company commends the hard work and tireless effort of all governmental and non governmental organizations involved in the ongoing hurricane restoration efforts, including NEMO, the Belize Red Cross, the British Forces, Belize Defence Force, the Belize Police Department, among others. Working together with one common goal, we can help restore the affected communities and bring hope to the Belizean populace.
