Community Efforts

Our efforts are also directed towards supporting community endeavors.

One major contribution in this area is our contribution to the Cancer Society. Since October 2001, the Company has joined forces with the Belize Cancer Society to promote the education and awareness of cancer in Belize. The Campaign held under the slogan – “It's your call – Make it with a Prepaid card and help cancer victims” pledges to donate a portion of every PrePaid Card sold to the Cancer Society. The support of this organization enables the further communication and education of health issues that greatly affect the country.

The BTL Park on Newtown Barracks and the BTL Albert Park on Regent Street can best be described as major accomplishment in upholding BTL's pledge to join forces with the community to ensure its development. Residents of these areas can now enjoy a clean and secure recreational environment that contribute positively to the development of our children and at the same time assist in strengthening the family unit.

Adopted in 1997, the BTL Park on Newtown Barracks provides an area of recreational activities for its visitors as the company made good on its commitment by refurbishing the entire park. Today the park is a popular spot for recreational activities.

In continuing this commitment, the Company added to its community development goals, the BTL Albert Park, which it refurbished in 1999 creating a whole new park for the community. The Company is also looking into the renovation of what is today the Constitution Park in Belize City.

With both BTL parks gaining much public popularity in Belize City, BTL decided to provide residents in Placencia with a permanent recreational center for residents and visitors. The new park situated in a centralized area of the community, will provide wholesome entertainment for families in this community and its surrounding areas as well as add beautification to this lively tourist destination.

Our corporate achievement for the fiscal year is a key milestone for our Company in its journey towards building lasting relationship with the community.
